Bricklayer Job Responsibilities

  1. Construction of Masonry Units:
    • Prepare and lay bricks, concrete blocks, structural tiles, or other masonry units for various construction projects.
  2. Estimation:
    • Estimate materials, labor, tools, and equipment required for each project.
  3. Veneer Facing:
    • Lay bricks, stone, or similar materials to provide veneer facing for aesthetic appeal.
  4. Prefabricated Units:
    • Construct and install prefabricated masonry units as part of the building process.
  5. Decorative Installations:
    • Build patios, garden walls, and other decorative installations.
  6. Blueprint Analysis:
    • Read sketches and blueprints to calculate materials needed for accurate construction.
  7. Height Work:
    • Work at heights, on scaffolding, or swing stages to ensure comprehensive coverage.
  8. Cutting and Trimming:
    • Use hand and power tools to cut and trim bricks and concrete blocks to specification.
  9. Apprentice Instruction:
    • Instruct apprentices in the art and techniques of bricklaying.
  10. Specialized Construction:
    • Lay bricks for residential or commercial chimneys, build masonry shells of industrial chimneys, and install fire bricks for lining purposes.
